SAWRA - South African Windscreen Repair Association - Find a Technician

Become a Certified Auto Glass Technician

SAWRA sets the national standards for professional windscreen repair and replacement in South Africa. Training is delivered through SAWRA-accredited Specialist Certified Training Providers (SCTPs). SAWRA then evaluates competence, oversees assessments, and issues official accreditation.

This pathway is open to:

Independent technicians

Existing workshop staff

New business owners

Mobile operators

Schools, colleges, and NGOs

Whether you are new to the industry or already experienced, SAWRA provides a clear route to professional recognition.

How the SAWRA Certification Pathway Works

1. Training with an Accredited SCTP

Practical training takes place at an accredited SCTP that follows SAWRA’s official standards and curriculum requirements.

2. Competency Assessment

After training, your SCTP submits your assessment results to SAWRA.
Experienced technicians may apply directly to SAWRA via the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) pathway.

3. Membership & Technician Certification

Upon meeting all requirements — including proof of tools, workshop affiliation, and competence — SAWRA issues:

A SAWRA Technician Certificate & ID, and

A linked Workshop or Business listing (where applicable).

4. Ongoing Compliance

Technicians and workshops maintain SAWRA recognition through:

Annual membership

Use of SAWRA-approved tools and consumables

Compliance with audits and ongoing development requirements
